PRESIDENT MARCOS EXTENDS EDCOM 2 MANDATE FOR TWO MORE YEARS

President Marcos has signed Republic Act 12315, extending the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) for two more years beyond its original three-year term.

The extension allows EDCOM 2 to continue overseeing education reforms and ensure that the country’s education system aligns with national development and workforce needs.

The commission will work closely with agencies like DepEd, CHED, TESDA, DSWD, and DOH, as well as Congress, to improve curricula, teaching methods, and learning outcomes.

EDCOM 2 is also tasked with addressing gaps in school infrastructure, learning resources, and teacher training while integrating innovations such as AI, digital, and green technologies.

Funding will come from the legislature’s available budgets and future national budget allocations, and the law takes effect 15 days after its publication.
