President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. voted early on Monday at the Mariano Marcos Memorial School in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, accompanied by his family, including former First Lady Imelda Marcos and son, Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos.
After casting his vote, the family visited the Marcos Museum and later went to Calayab Elementary School in Laoag City, where other family members were registered.
Marcos did not engage with the media but smiled and waved when approached.
Ilocos Norte remains under a “green” classification for the May 12 elections, indicating no significant security concerns or risks of election-related violence, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Ilocos Norte supervisor.
Despite reports of political tensions, Comelec officials expressed hope that the province’s peaceful status would persist through the election period.
