In a bid to support local farmers and facilitate the smooth transportation of goods and services, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has issued a directive to prioritize the development of farm-to-market road (FMR) projects. President Marcos emphasized the importance of aligning government initiatives with the Farm-to-Market Roads National Plan (FMRNP).
During a meeting with officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Tuesday, President Marcos stressed the need to identify areas where these roads are most needed. He instructed the DA to collaborate with other relevant agencies to pinpoint locations for the construction and development of FMRs.
Furthermore, President Marcos highlighted the significance of rehabilitating and repairing FMRs that have been damaged by floods and other natural disasters.
At the start of his presidency, President Marcos had expressed his administration’s commitment to devising a comprehensive farm-to-market road masterplan. This master plan aims to ensure food security across the country.
By prioritizing FMR projects, President Marcos aims to empower farmers, enhance agricultural productivity, and bolster the nation’s food security efforts.
