PORAC MAYOR POSTS P630K BOND AMID GRAFT CHARGES OVER POGO REGULATION

Porac, Pampanga Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil posted a P630,000 cash bond on Tuesday for his provisional liberty following a court-issued arrest warrant for seven counts of graft.

The charges stem from his alleged failure to regulate the Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) Lucky South 99, which operated in Porac without a renewed PAGCOR permit.

Capil voluntarily surrendered after the arrest warrant, issued on Nov. 28, was served at his residence, though police initially could not locate him.

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission claims Capil allowed the Pogo to operate despite its Certificate of No Objection being limited to a business processing firm.

Reports also allege the operation was linked to torture, financial scams, and prostitution, which Capil failed to inspect.
