The Philippine National Police (PNP) emphasized its constitutional mandate to uphold the rule of law, following the filing of criminal charges against Vice President Sara Duterte and members of her security team.
PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil stated that the charges, stemming from an incident at Veterans Memorial Medical Center involving alleged obstruction and assault, demonstrate their commitment to justice without bias.
The case arose after Duterte allegedly intervened in a House of Representatives order to detain her chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, at the medical facility.
Despite allegations of political harassment, the PNP reiterated its duty to enforce the law impartially.
Marbil defended the move, stressing that justice applies equally to all, regardless of political or social standing.
