PNP CHIEF COMMITS TO ENDING POGO OPERATIONS BY 2024

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil pledged to eliminate all Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos) by the end of 2024, following a major raid on the 40-story Century Peak Tower in Manila, known as the “mother of all scam hubs.”

The raid uncovered a central hub for illegal Pogo activities, involving hundreds of individuals, including 69 foreign nationals engaged in scams and human trafficking.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had previously mandated a Pogo ban during his State of the Nation Address, with operations set to end by 2024.

The PNP-ACG led the raid, distancing the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), which claimed it was not involved and criticized the release of foreign suspects.

Marbil highlighted the operation as a testament to law enforcement’s dedication to dismantling cybercrime and illegal gambling networks.
