The Philippines will host the inaugural ASEAN-Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) retreat on July 7-8 in Makati City, marking a key step in redefining the council’s role in ASEAN integration.
The event serves as a soft launch of the Philippines’ ASEAN-BAC Chairmanship in 2026 and will gather business leaders, government officials, diplomats, and development partners from across Southeast Asia.
ASEAN-BAC Philippines chair Joey Concepcion emphasized the retreat’s focus on inclusive growth driven by digital innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
The retreat, called “ASEAN-BAC Reimagined,” will be co-led by Concepcion and ASEAN-BAC 2025 Chair Tan Sri Nazir Razak, with guidance from McKinsey & Company to sharpen the council’s priorities.
This gathering aims to realign ASEAN-BAC’s mandate and strengthen public-private cooperation, bridging Malaysia’s 2025 theme of inclusivity with the Philippines’ 2026 agenda of driving regional prosperity.
