PHILIPPINES STRENGTHENS DISASTER RESPONSE WITH CANADIAN TRAINING SUPPORT

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Canadian Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) held joint technical training from January 27 to 31 to improve the Philippines’ disaster response capabilities. 

The training focused on collapsed structure search and rescue, water rescue, and emergency medical management. 

This initiative is part of the Philippines’ efforts to obtain certification under the International Search and Rescue Group, a mark of excellence in disaster response. 

Canadian experts shared valuable knowledge from their wildfire experiences and demonstrated water filtration systems essential for typhoon emergencies. 

Canadian Ambassador David Hartman reiterated Canada’s support for the Philippines’ disaster preparedness and response efforts.
