The Philippines has a strong semiconductor ecosystem, particularly in assembly and testing, but needs to actively promote itself to the global semiconductor industry, according to SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha.
Speaking at a briefing for Philippine and Japanese media, Manocha noted the country’s absence from the SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025 event in Singapore, a key platform for showcasing semiconductor capabilities.
He emphasized that other countries market themselves aggressively at such events to attract investment and talent.
Manocha urged the Philippines to develop a clear strategy to move up the value chain into design and innovation, and expressed SEMI’s willingness to support through collaboration with the government.
SEMI, a neutral global industry association, plays a vital role in connecting stakeholders, fostering innovation, and promoting growth across the semiconductor supply chain.
