President Marcos met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu to discuss strengthening cooperation on trade, energy security, digital transformation, and transnational crime.
Both leaders also exchanged views on regional issues, including the Philippines’ ASEAN chairmanship and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Marcos said the talks aim to expand opportunities for both countries amid more than seven decades of diplomatic relations.
The meeting also reaffirmed commitments to deepen bilateral ties and promote shared growth within ASEAN.
The Philippines is hosting the summit under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together.”
