DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon is calling for a major shift in mindset among regional and district officials to ensure faster action on repairing damaged roads and bridges.
He stressed that officials should not wait for higher approval when public safety is already at risk, citing delayed infrastructure repairs in Benguet and Albay.
Dizon said government service should prioritize urgency and common sense, especially in addressing hazardous road conditions.
He also committed to completing key repair projects within months and urged the use of faster, modern construction methods.
The agency is also currently facing corruption allegations involving flood-control projects.
