The China Coast Guard again used water cannon against Philippine government vessels near Bajo de Masinloc on Friday during a mission to deliver fuel subsidies and assistance to Filipino fishermen, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
The incident involved BRP Cape San Agustin and BRP Datu Paduhinog and marked the second consecutive day of water cannon use in the area.
It followed another confrontation earlier this week near Ayungin Shoal, where a Filipino sailor was reportedly injured during an encounter with the China Coast Guard.
The Philippines condemned China’s actions as aggressive and unlawful, while Beijing accused Philippine vessels of operating illegally.
China continues to assert broad claims over the South China Sea despite a 2016 international arbitral ruling that invalidated those claims.
