The Philippines and France have strengthened their partnership in the dairy sector with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and France-based Phylum SARL.
The agreement will fund a feasibility study for the Philippine Dairy Project, supported by a grant from the French government’s Fonds d’Etudes et d’Aide au Secteur Prive.
The project aims to establish a modern dairy farm in Ubay, Bohol, with the capacity to care for over 300 cows and process up to 10 metric tons of raw milk daily.
It will also promote collaboration with local cooperatives for milk and fodder production, along with training and advisory services.
The Philippines, which currently has a milk sufficiency of only 1.66 percent, targets a 5 percent milk sufficiency by 2028.
