China has expressed willingness to import more products from the Philippines, especially those affected by steep U.S. tariffs, offering an opportunity to boost bilateral trade.
Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian encouraged the Philippines to take advantage of China’s growing consumer market, emphasizing that the Philippines could expand exports through platforms like the annual China International Import Expo.
Last year, China was the Philippines’ top source of imports and its fourth-largest export destination.
Huang also cited the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement and the RCEP deal as key avenues for strengthening economic ties.
He warned that U.S. protectionist policies could disrupt global trade flows. He urged countries like the Philippines to work with China in defending free trade and a fair international economic order.
