The Philippine Pet Birth Control Center (PPBCC) Foundation announced it will cease operations amid resurfacing accusations of negligence related to pet deaths under its care.
The foundation clarified that while medical procedures carry risks, deaths were due to underlying causes or owners insisting on neutering against medical advice, with waivers signed.
The controversy has affected the PPBCC Veterinary Hospital, which subsidized neutering costs, allowing the foundation to provide affordable services to indigents and municipalities since 2017.
Despite the closure, the foundation assured registered clients that their scheduled requests would still be honored.
Many pet owners expressed sadness over the closure, praising the foundation’s valuable role in promoting responsible pet care and spaying/neutering awareness.
