PCG DEPLOYS BRP CABRA TO COUNTER CHINA COAST GUARD PRESENCE

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed BRP Cabra to replace BRP Suluan in monitoring the illegal presence of China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels near Zambales.

BRP Cabra engaged CCG-3103 in radio communications, reminding them of violations of the Philippine Maritime Zones Act, UNCLOS, and the 2016 Arbitral Award.

The PCG reported that CCG-3304 retreated further offshore as BRP Suluan returned to Subic.

PCG spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela stated that the deployment aims to safeguard Philippine maritime rights while maintaining a non-provocative stance.

Efforts to enforce the rule of law in the West Philippine Sea will continue, he added.
