Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano led inspections of public schools to ensure classroom safety following recent earthquakes and rising influenza-like cases among students.
Joined by city and education officials, she checked structural stability, emergency equipment, and sanitation measures in several campuses.
The mayor said about 200 flu cases had been recorded since June, with most patients already recovered, while classroom disinfection and misting were conducted simultaneously to curb further infections.
She showcased desks designed to double as earthquake shelters and emergency kits stored under each chair.
Calixto-Rubiano emphasized that preparedness, not just resilience, remains the cornerstone of Pasay’s disaster and health response strategy.
