Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida on Friday said authorities have been ordered to arrest Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa if he attempts to leave the Philippines amid an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against him.
Vida said he signed an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order to alert border officials and prevent any possible attempt by the senator to flee the country.
While confirming the ICC warrant is valid, Vida said there is currently no manhunt order as the government respects the Senate’s protective custody arrangement and pending Supreme Court proceedings.
He also urged the public to remember the victims of alleged extrajudicial killings linked to the Duterte administration’s drug war, saying many families are still seeking justice.
The DOJ is also investigating incidents surrounding attempts to serve the warrant at the Senate earlier this week.
