PAOLO DUTERTE QUESTIONS TESTIMONY REQUEST ON GRACIOSO’S CLAIMS

Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte questioned the need for him to appear before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) over allegations that he and his family received suitcases of cash from former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.

In a Facebook post on Oct. 11, Duterte challenged the bureau to build its case using its own evidence after it reportedly assessed the credibility of former police officer Rodulfo Mondigo Gracioso Jr.

Gracioso alleged that he delivered more than ₱2 billion to Vice President Sara Duterte, ₱1 billion to former president Rodrigo Duterte, and ₱100 million to Paolo Duterte beginning in 2018.

The NBI invited Paolo Duterte to appear on Oct. 12 to help ensure a fair and thorough investigation, allowing him to bring legal counsel and relevant evidence.

Both Sara Duterte’s office and Velasco’s camp have rejected the allegations, while the NBI continues to verify Gracioso’s affidavit and related records.
