A recent raid conducted by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) led to the rescue of 34 Indonesians and a Chinese national, Peter, who was being tortured by a kidnapping syndicate.
The Indonesians had been held captive by Liu Meng, a former Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) boss after they refused to join her in Cambodia.
Authorities also discovered Peter’s abduction at a nearby safe house, where he showed signs of torture, and arrested three of his kidnappers.
The operation led to the dismantling of an illegal POGO facility in Calamba City, where several Chinese nationals and Filipinos were apprehended.
Additionally, PAOCC revealed that over 5,000 Australians were victims of a love scam run by Filipino scammers targeting financially secure individuals via online dating apps.
