Senator-elect Francis Pangilinan took his oath of office before Supreme Court Justice Marvic Leonen, marking his return to the Senate after a six-year hiatus.
He vowed to push urgent measures addressing hunger, public trust, and the rights of ordinary Filipinos, including a nationwide feeding program to support schoolchildren and Filipino farmers.
Pangilinan’s choice to be sworn in by Justice Leonen was personal, as they share a long history as student leaders at the University of the Philippines.
He emphasized the importance of integrity, the rule of law, and restoring hope amid rising hunger and public skepticism.
Pangilinan was joined by his family during the ceremony and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding democratic institutions and the Constitution.
