President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has established the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry (SEI) Advisory Council to develop a roadmap for the growth and competitiveness of the semiconductor and electronics sector.
The advisory body was created through Administrative Order No. 31, which was signed on March 28 and released to the public on Thursday.
Marcos emphasized the importance of a strategic framework to strengthen the country’s position in the global semiconductor and electronics market, where the Philippines holds a 5% share.
The council, which will provide strategic guidance and insights, will be led by Frederick Go, the special assistant to the president for investment and economic affairs, with the trade secretary as vice chair.
The council will also include officials from various government agencies, along with an industry representative, to ensure effective policy implementation.
