Malacañang on Wednesday appointed former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. as Cabinet Secretary under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Abalos was scheduled to take his oath that afternoon.
In his new role, Abalos will provide strategic advice to the President on national, local, and international political issues.
He will also serve as a liaison between the President and government agencies, organizations, and various sectors.
Abalos previously led the Department of the Interior and Local Government from 2022 to 2024 before unsuccessfully running for senator in the 2025 elections.
