PALACE TO REVIEW PROPOSAL FOR MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE

The proposed P200 across-the-board minimum wage increase is currently being reviewed by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, according to a Palace official.

This comes after the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to prioritize the wage hike bill.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that the President has directed the board to evaluate the wages in each region, with some regions already implementing wage increases.

Despite TUCP’s appeal, Marcos has emphasized the need for further review of the proposal, citing the role of the tripartite board in determining wage adjustments.

Marcos also noted the ongoing challenges of rising prices and inflation that require careful consideration before finalizing any wage increase.
