Malacañang on Tuesday denied claims by lawyer and fugitive Harry Roque that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is seeking reconciliation with Vice President Sara Duterte.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro branded the claim as “fake news,” saying the president is focused on governance rather than political maneuvering.
Castro added that Duterte had publicly rejected any talks, declaring there was “no turning back” from the fallout that followed the collapse of the UniTeam alliance.
Marcos and Duterte, who ran together in 2022, fell out in late 2024 amid public attacks and accusations involving destabilization efforts.
Castro said Marcos had no reaction to Duterte’s announcement of a 2028 presidential bid except to wish her “good luck.”
