PAF, U.S. FLY TOGETHER IN COPE THUNDER FEATURING F-35 DEBUT

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and U.S. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) kicked off Cope Thunder 25-2 on July 7, marking the first time the PAF has flown alongside the U.S. Air Force’s F-35 stealth fighter jets.

The joint aerial drills, running until July 18, are being conducted across Northern Luzon to boost tactical coordination and interoperability.

The PAF deployed over 2,300 personnel and multiple air assets, while the PACAF sent 225 personnel and its advanced F-35s.

Exercises include subject matter exchanges and field training to enhance combined air and land operations.

On opening day, FA-50s and F-35s flew joint missions within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone.
