PAF: INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY FOR C-295 LANDING INCIDENT AT BATANES AIRPORT

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is investigating a landing mishap involving a C-295 transport aircraft, which skidded off the runway at Basco Airport in Batanes on November 1, 2024.

During the incident, the aircraft’s nose landing gear detached, though all crew members remained safe.

The C-295 was on a humanitarian mission, transporting essential relief supplies, including family food packs for the Office of Civil Defense.

Despite the mishap, the PAF and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assured Batanes residents that relief operations would continue.

Basco Airport has been temporarily closed to fixed-wing aircraft, with helicopter landings permitted, and is expected to resume normal operations soon.
