OMBUDSMAN WELCOMES DMW APPEAL BID IN DISMISSED IGNACIO PLUNDER CASE

The Office of the Ombudsman welcomed the Department of Migrant Workers’ (DMW) plan to appeal the dismissal of plunder, graft and malversation complaints against former OWWA Administrator Arnaldo “Arnell” Ignacio.

DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac said the agency will file a motion for reconsideration, citing evidence it believes was not fully considered in the Ombudsman’s resolution.

The DMW will highlight the issuance of P1.4 billion in Landbank checks before the signing of the deed of sale and the alleged non-existence of 51 condominium units included in the transaction.

The Ombudsman earlier dismissed the major criminal complaints but indicted Ignacio for usurpation of official functions related to the property acquisition.

The case stemmed from a controversial P1.4-billion property deal that led to Ignacio’s removal from office in 2025.
