MIND BILL TARGETS IRREGULARITIES IN GOVERNMENT INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

Senators said the proposed Master Plan for Infrastructure and National Development (MIND) Act could help prevent costly infrastructure scandals by requiring long-term planning for government projects.

Senate Economic Affairs Committee Chairperson Risa Hontiveros said the measure aims to ensure infrastructure spending is based on national priorities rather than political interests.

The bill seeks to create a comprehensive infrastructure master plan to guide budgets and avoid poorly planned or unnecessary projects.

Senators JV Ejercito and Erwin Tulfo said the proposal would help ensure continuity of key infrastructure projects despite changes in administration.

The committee will form a technical working group to refine the measure and address concerns on implementation and coordination with government agencies.
