Private prosecutor Lorna Kapunan described the alleged rise in troll activity and personal attacks against the House prosecution team as a sign of desperation and frustration.
She said online campaigns can be manipulated to create the appearance of strong public support and should not be mistaken for genuine sentiment.
Kapunan noted that attacks against prosecutors have shifted from legal arguments to personal criticisms.
Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua urged the public to follow the impeachment proceedings directly instead of relying on social media updates.
Chua said the prosecution team’s focus remains on presenting facts and countering misinformation surrounding the trial.
