Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo has released her song for the official soundtrack of the upcoming “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” prequel. The song, titled “Can’t Catch Me Now,” is available to stream on all major platforms.
In an Instagram post, Rodrigo said that she was excited to be a part of the “Hunger Games” franchise and that she wrote the song specifically for the prequel film. She also shared a snippet of the song’s lyrics, which hint at the dark and dystopian world of Panem.
“The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” is set several decades before the events of the original “Hunger Games” trilogy and follows a young Coriolanus Snow as he mentors a tribute from the impoverished District 12 at the 10th Hunger Games. The film stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman, and Viola Davis.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 17, 2023. The soundtrack, which features Rodrigo’s song, will also be released on the same day.
