The Department of Agriculture (DA) has launched a new initiative to revitalize the salt industry in Ilocos Norte, focusing on increasing local production to meet domestic demand.
The project will modernize salt production techniques, provide training for local farmers, and improve facilities to boost quality and yield.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized the importance of reviving the salt sector, which has long suffered from low output and dependency on imports.
The program aims to reduce the country’s reliance on imported salt and promote sustainable production in key coastal areas.
Stakeholders, including local government units and private investors, are collaborating to ensure the success of this initiative.
