Questions over unidentified or inadequately documented beneficiaries in the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) ₱168-million disaster-relief operations have raised concerns over the use of public funds.
House prosecution panel adviser and spokesperson Robert Ace Barbers cited a Commission on Audit (COA) special review that found documentation deficiencies that prevented auditors from verifying some beneficiaries and distributions.
Barbers mentioned the names Mary Grace Piattos and Nico Harina, but clarified that the audit did not identify them as relief beneficiaries.
The two names had previously appeared in documents related to the OVP’s confidential fund expenditures, which are part of the evidence in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Barbers called for a complete documentary trail for the relief funds, saying the OVP must provide explanations and supporting documents to account for every peso spent.
