Malacañang assured the public that there is no immediate water shortage despite the ongoing high temperatures in the Philippines, with water levels remaining sufficient.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that, while the government is prepared for potential water supply issues, no El Niño declaration has been made and efforts are underway to prevent rationing.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported dangerously high heat indices in parts of Luzon, with temperatures reaching up to 42°C in some areas.
However, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) and Maynilad Water Inc. assured that there will be no water shortages in Metro Manila and nearby areas, despite the heat.
Local government units have already suspended face-to-face classes in response to the extreme temperatures.
