MORE RAIN EXPECTED IN LUZON AS HABAGAT PERSISTS

Luzon is expected to face another week of heavy rains as the southwest monsoon or habagat could bring over 200 mm of rain to Benguet on Monday.

PAGASA also forecast 100 to 200 mm of rain in Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro, while Metro Manila and other areas may receive up to 100 mm.

Flooding and landslides remain a major threat as the ground is already saturated from days of rain.

Rains are expected to gradually ease starting Tuesday, although several provinces will remain at risk.

PAGASA is also monitoring Tropical Storm Peilou outside the Philippine area of responsibility, but the habagat remains the main weather system affecting Luzon.
