The first alarm remains in effect for the Marikina River due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat.” As of 5:40 a.m.
Sunday, the river’s water level reached 15.7 meters, up from 15 meters when the alarm was raised nearly nine hours earlier.
Residents have been advised to prepare for possible evacuation.
A second alarm will be raised at 16 meters, prompting preemptive evacuation.
Mandatory evacuation will be imposed once the water level reaches 18 meters.
