The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recently inspected the Faura outfall, one of three drainage systems closed five years ago for the Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach rehabilitation.
MMDA’s Flood Control and Sewage Management Office director Baltazar Melgar led the inspection alongside officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and San Miguel Corporation (SMC).
The group discussed potential solutions to alleviate flooding along Taft Avenue, which is connected to the Faura outfall.
SMC President and CEO Ramon Ang expressed his commitment to addressing Metro Manila’s severe flooding during a briefing attended by MMDA Chairman Don Artes and several Metro Manila mayors.
The inspection is part of broader efforts under SMC’s Better Rivers PH program to rehabilitate clogged waterways in the capital region.
