Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim has requested a meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to discuss the implementation of the Bangsamoro peace agreement.
In a letter dated October 1, Ebrahim asked to meet with the President alongside MILF leaders following the Sept. 14 parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
He said the meeting would reaffirm the group’s commitment to peace, address outstanding concerns, and identify steps to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro and the Bangsamoro Organic Law.
Ebrahim also emphasized the need to advance normalization, including decommissioning MILF combatants and delivering government assistance to former fighters and conflict-affected communities.
The MILF further sought Marcos’ support to improve peace and order, gauge reconciliation among political groups, and enhance coordination between the national government and Bangsamoro institutions.
