Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon warned that major mass transport projects, including the North-South Commuter Railway (27.29% complete) and the Metro Manila Subway (18.89% complete), face delays due to an 80% reduction in the 2025 budget for foreign-assisted projects. Legal issues surrounding compensation for informal settlers are also causing setbacks. Despite these challenges, Dizon pledged to accelerate progress in line with presidential directives. The DOTr plans to privatize MRT-3 and the EDSA Busway by 2025 while addressing concerns from the 20% of jeepney drivers who have not complied with the PUV Modernization Program. Dizon also promised to review the implementation of mandatory cashless toll systems to ensure operational efficiency.
