Marikina City has launched citywide cleanup and traffic preparations ahead of the cemetery rush, using the observance as a test of its trademark discipline and order.
Mayor Maan Teodoro said the initiative aims to manage crowds while demonstrating how cooperation between the public and local government can ensure a safe and organized environment.
The City Environmental Management Office led the cleanup of cemeteries, while the Office of Public Safety and Security mapped out traffic routes to prevent congestion.
An interagency team composed of police, health, and disaster response units was also deployed to maintain safety and cleanliness during the period.
Teodoro reminded residents that cleanliness and discipline should be a daily habit, not only practiced during holidays.
