Marikina City government is urging parents and guardians to help enforce the curfew for minors, set from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., as mandated by City Ordinance No. 040, series of 2015.
The curfew aims to protect minors under 18 from dangers such as gang violence, illegal drug use, and alcohol consumption on the streets.
Exceptions are allowed if a parent or guardian accompanies minors or has a legitimate reason with proper documentation.
The ordinance requires that repeated violations by minors aged 15 and below be reported to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for counseling.
Despite an ordinance amendment in 2004, crimes and misbehavior involving minors have persisted since 2005, prompting the continued enforcement effort.
