Despite Iloilo City’s strong affiliation with the Liberal Party, Sen. Imee Marcos and her Ayansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas party are aiming to win over voters in the vote-rich region.
Iloilo City has about 319,000 voters, with the province holding around 1.6 million voters in total.
Although Iloilo supported Leni Robredo in the 2022 elections, Marcos remains optimistic about gaining support, stating that loyalty is earned.
President Marcos, during a proclamation rally in Iloilo, defended his senatorial bets, highlighting their clean records and distancing them from controversial issues like Oplan Tokhang and ties to China.
While the rally saw around 30,000 attendees, it was lower than the initial estimate of 50,000.
