President Marcos reiterated his opposition to the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, as a recent Pulse Asia survey showed that half of Filipinos disagree with the complaint filed by the House.
Only 28% supported the impeachment, with Mindanao respondents showing overwhelming support for Duterte.
Despite public opinion, Rep. Rodge Gutierrez and other impeachment prosecutors insist the constitutional process must proceed based on facts, not surveys.
Meanwhile, Marcos dismissed calls for his resignation, pledging a deeper performance review of government officials rather than Cabinet reshuffles alone.
Political analysts also foresee a possible 2028 showdown between Sara Duterte and Sen. Bong Go, citing internal rifts and loyalty dynamics within the Duterte camp.
