President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has urged local government units (LGUs) to enhance their waste management efforts after Severe Tropical Storm “Enteng” exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday.
He emphasized that cleanup will continue beyond the storm’s departure, reflecting on how improper waste disposal exacerbated flooding during recent storms.
Marcos assured that the national government is ready to support disaster response, with over 1,700 pieces of equipment prepositioned for road clearing and PHP65.56 million in standby funds for aid distribution.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development distributes over PHP16 million in assistance, and health logistics worth PHP480.61 million have been allocated.
Marcos also noted ongoing power restoration efforts and the availability of emergency communications and rescue resources.
