President Marcos rejected reports portraying the Philippines as a terrorism training hotspot, calling such claims misleading and ignoring years of government efforts to dismantle extremist networks.
He made the remarks during the 90th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Camp Aguinaldo, following reports linking the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia to a brief stay by the attackers in Davao City.
Philippine authorities emphasized that the suspects’ short visit does not indicate the country is a base for terrorist operations.
Marcos affirmed that the Philippines will continue strengthening its security measures and will not allow false narratives to weaken national resolve.
During the ceremony, he also honored AFP personnel for their service and highlighted the upcoming salary adjustments for military and uniformed personnel as part of his administration’s commitment to supporting the armed forces.
