The City Government of Manila has started providing free Doxycycline in health centers and district hospitals beginning August 23 to prevent leptospirosis during the rainy season.
This antibiotic helps protect residents who may have been exposed to floodwaters, which commonly transmit the bacterial infection.
The free medication is available across multiple health centers in all six city districts and major city hospitals.
Manila’s health department urges residents to utilize this service and seek prompt medical care if they have come into contact with floodwaters.
The initiative also includes distribution at the City Government Employees’ Clinic to safeguard both employees and the public.
