A Manila court has entered a not guilty plea for expelled Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. after he refused to enter a plea during his arraignment for a 2019 murder case.
Teves attended the proceedings via videoconference from his detention cell in Camp Bagong Diwa, following a recent hospitalization for an appendectomy.
The court set the pre-trial hearing for July 29.
Teves is also facing separate charges related to the assassination of Governor Roel Degamo and terrorism financing, for which he previously refused to enter a plea.
Designated a terrorist by the Anti-Terrorism Council, Teves was deported from Timor-Leste in May after his arrest.
