Malacañang said Cebu officials who reportedly traveled to Europe during Typhoon Tino should first be investigated before assigning blame.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that the purpose of their travel and whether it affected disaster response must be assessed.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has begun probing the matter and requested all travel orders of local chief executives for review.
Cebu officials from the province’s fifth district, including those from Compostela and Liloan, faced public criticism after reports surfaced of their trips to London and France.
Most of the officials have not yet confirmed or denied the reports, while the provincial government said it will comply with the DILG’s instructions.
