On February 7, a helicopter carried American rescuers to Barangay Malatimon, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, to recover the bodies of four men killed in a plane crash the day before.
The aircraft, a Raytheon Beechcraft King Air 300, was contracted by the US military and was supporting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance activities in cooperation with the Philippine military.
Local officials confirmed that the bodies were retrieved by a team of Caucasian personnel, likely from the US, with the assistance of the Police Regional Office and Army’s 6th Infantry Division.
The crash victims were later identified, with one of them named Brandon Dustin, through his passport.
The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command confirmed the incident, stating that efforts to notify the families of the victims are ongoing.
