MAGALONG STEPS DOWN; PALACE REITERATES SUPPORT FOR ICC’S INDEPENDENT ROLE

Malacañang expressed respect for the independence of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) following Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s resignation as its special adviser.

Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said the commission, composed of respected professionals, must be allowed to fulfill its mandate without interference.

Magalong stepped down amid concerns over a potential conflict of interest, though he maintained his commitment to integrity and fighting corruption.

He emphasized that his resignation was to protect the commission’s independence and credibility.

Despite stepping down, Magalong vowed to continue advocating for transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country.
